Do you know someone with a special passion for Hawke’s Bay’s environment? Someone with a project in mind, or already underway, aimed at improving our natural surroundings?
Every year the Hawke’s Bay Environmental Awards aim to recognise those working to protect, preserve or restore the environment.

The Hawke's Bay Environmental Awards are held each year to recognise people and projects that have made a significant difference to the environment of Hawke's Bay. Supported by the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council, Hastings District Council and Napier City Council, this prestigious event not only show cases the many excellent projects being carried out by volunteers, businesses, farmers, schools, community groups and Marae to enhance and restore their local environment but also recognises individuals and families who in themselves have made outstanding contributions to the environment. |

Categories
1. Individuals
This category is for individuals or family groups who
have been a positive force for carrying out environmental
work, organising projects and setting an example to
the community.
2. Community
This category is for not-for-profit volunteers who are
involved in planting, restoration and conservation
projects.
3. Rural
The rural category is for primary producers of land based
products, for example, horticulture, viticulture, pastoral
farming and small farming. - Entrants in this category
would have taken on a wide range of programmes to benefit
the environment.
4. Business, Corporate, Industry
Entrants into this category would be involved
in secondary production, processing, manufacturing and
servicing sector with programmes that have a wider benefit
for the environment.
5. New Product
This category is for entrants that have developed a new
product in Hawke's Bay that enhances the use of natural
resources, for example, reduces waste, pollutants or
energy use, or improves resource quality.
6. Cleaner Production
This category is for all organisations in Hawke's
Bay involved in achieving cleaner production by using
resources and energy efficiently, preventing pollution
and minimising waste through recycling, re-use or redistribution
of products.
7. The Ede Award
This award is presented to the best educational
institutions in the region for "education to the
power of the environment". Educational institutions
includes schools, kura kaupapa, polytechnics, early childhood
and kindergartens.

Ede Award for Environmental Education
Taruna College Havelock North Biodynamic and organic education programmes for farmers, orchardists, winegrowers.

Dr Mike Lusk - Individual Award Winner
Individual
Dr Michael (Mike) Lusk for long service and focussed protection and enhancement of Te Mata Peak and Park, including specialised planting and care of rare ecosystems.
For green waste management and recycling
