Casualty List
Casualty List - Christine Clement has compiled a list of casualties
including where many of the folk died.
The Navy's role
HMS Veronica was in port at the time, and radioed for help. HMS Dunedin
and HMS Diomede arrived the next day with much needed supplies. An
Army convoy also arrived at the same time from Trentham. The Red Cross and
Salvation Army also helped with emergency relief.

Emergency flights by various aircraft and pilots provided an essential
link with the rest of the country.
