Sustinere
To keep in existence, maintain, to hold.
In that moment when the firefly
left your cheek
on the spring tide, the ebb of
embers
extinguished and rekindled,
I chose to nestle between tiny
terraline wings and strings of
fibre;
the filament for your miniature
frame,
and on borrowed plains of tenuous
streams
take passage.
Your lateral petals in frantic
calamity
echoed and transcended time
as the moon ripened and tortion
arrested the earth's sacred
auroras.
In the luminescent clarity
of gentle souls colliding
your scent caused my flight to
falter.
For in that moment,
where oceans meet lands and winds
trade fate,
I became your mother - and when my
wings
kissed the soft round of your
cheek
en casa - I came home. |
