What is Elf?
|
-
Library Elf is a free web-based
service.
- You can choose to receive email (as well as
our usual notices).
-
RSS
alerts from Library Elf are also available.
- Elf is flexible: you can choose to receive
alerts when and where you want.
For example, you could receive an alert one week
before an item is due, then every day again until it's due. The choice is
yours.
- View
due dates in a convenient calendar format on your emailed alerts.
- Keep track of several cards on the
one account for a complete list of your family's loans. Great for Mums and
Dads or anyone looking after the whole family's library loans.

Privacy
|
- Please be aware that Elf is an independent
organisation not associated with and located outside the Hastings District
Libraries, which means you are authorising Elf to access your
account details for you.
- We recommend that
you read Library Elf's
privacy
policy and
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
before deciding to sign up for the service.
-
If you receive RSS feeds through a web-based
aggregator such as Bloglines, Feedster or Yahoo, your feeds might be
viewable by the general public even if your account is marked "Private".
This is due to the nature of web-based RSS feeds, and is not due to a
security failure by the Hastings District Libraries or Library ELF. This
privacy issue does NOT exist for RSS aggregators which are installed on your
own PC, ONLY for web-based services.

else should I know about Elf? |

Extended
Loan Charges |
- Elf reminders do not show the actual overdue
charges. To check these you can log in through our
catalogue and check your card (click onto the date link
shown on the alert) or contact your library.
- Use of the Elf service does not
excuse participants from library charges if materials are returned late.
- You are still responsible for any charges,
including overdues, even if you do not receive a reminder via Elf.
Please
see our charges

|
 |
Renewals |
- It is not possible to renew your items using
Elf.
- However you may renew online by logging into My Account
on our
catalogue. If you click on a due date link on your Library Elf
alert, you will be taken to the catalogue menu. Here you may log into
My Account then renew your items (if they have not been renewed previously).
If you do
not want to renew online, you are welcome to
phone us or visit any branch and ask for a
renewal.
See http://www.hastingsdc.govt.nz/libraries/servicesextended.htm
Please note items may be renewed once only.
