The Information Directory for Older People

The age structure of Hastings’ population is projected to change significantly in the first half of the twenty first century, with the average age moving from 34.8 years to 43.9 years by 2026.

Hastings District Council is already planning for the changing community needs which this shift will bring. It has developed a draftPositive Ageing Strategy and feedback on the policy is being sought from the community.

The policy sets out a range of areas which will need specific attention when planning for an older population, such as transport, community safety, housing, information and participation opportunities.

Hastings district’s population is expected to age slightly more than the national average, due to factors such as its popularity as a retirement destination.

You can download the policy and a postage-paid feedback form below.
