Figure 16
Camberley Occupied Private Dwellings Fuelled Type Used to Heat Dwellings

The comparisons with 1991 are not on the same graph since the question was worded differently in 1996 and 2001.
Fewer people are using electricity as their main source of heating and there has been an increase in the use of gas for mains. Bottled gas is also used more. A decrease in the use of wood was followed by an increase in the use of coal. A very small increase in the use of solar power was noted.
This trend shows that people are reverting to limiting the
amount of money they spend on heating. Within the Hastings
District, this is understandably lower than in other areas
that get a lot of rain and snow. However, it might be an indication
that people have less purchase power and take control over
what they spend money on, rather than be told by a meter reader
at the end of each month. In poorly insulated houses, this
might have adverse effects on the health of infants, children
and the elderly.
