Hastings Coming Out to Play

Hastings District Council's has a play strategy called "Hastings Coming Out to Play", which looks at the Council’s role in providing opportunities for “play” in the Hastings District outdoor environment over the next 10 years.

We want to involve the local community in the design of new playscapes, so that each one is a unique reflection of the community in which it is located.

The play strategy is in line with the Council's Long Term Council Community Plan (LTCCP) through the Community Outcomes process.

It also links with the Council's reserve management plans, the Cycling Strategy and proposed Walking Strategy (PDF, 695 KB).

Progress to date

New playscapes

  • A Variety Swing, designed especially for children in wheelchairs, at Cornwall Park
  • Gannet plateau complete
  • Anderson Park complete
  • Keirunga Gardens complete
  • Flaxmere Park complete
  • Whakatu complete
