
Under the Dog Control Act 1996 dog owners may be issued with an infringement notice if they, or their dogs(s) are found committing specific offences.
Infringement offence notices carry a fixed penalty that are outlined below:

| Keeping an unregistered dog | $300 |
| Failure to keep dog under proper control | $200 |
| Failure to comply with any bylaw authorised by Section 20 of the Dog Control Act | $300 |
| Failure to advise of change of ownership | $100 |
| Failure to advise of change of address | $100 |
| Failure to use or carry leash in public places | $100 |
