Welcome to Hastings District Council's Environment pages. The Environmental Policy team has prepared this information for you - if you have any queries, please don't hesitate to call us. Use the links at the top of this page to access information on the beautiful environment that makes up Hastings District. We prepare, review, monitor and implement the objectives and policies of the Hastings District Plan prepared under the Resource Management Act 1991. As well as this, we also provide policy advice on environmental issues and projects to Council, landowners and the public. |

We are focused on consulting with groups and individuals within the Hastings district and responding to environmental concerns, and we also have an education role in promoting awareness of environmental issues and values of the district.
We are currently working on implementing the Hastings Coastal Environment Strategy, monitoring the effectiveness of the District Plan, preparing a heritage management strategy, developing a Gambling Venue Policy, reviewing the natural hazards section of the district plan and working on the Biodiversity project.
