Community Involvement

• Determine the social, cultural, economic, and environmental aspirations of the Flaxmere community.

Celebrate the progress made since 2005 and get involved in setting goals and actions to make a real difference in Flaxmere. Share your vision and identify what you and your community group(s) want to do to help achieve those dreams.

• Proposal seeks to create a better town centre with a new full-service supermarket, new street connections and measures to encourage new business and more people into a safe community heart.

• Determining future use, development and management of Flaxmere Park

With the town centre due for changes; come have your say about improving the safety and increasing the recreational features within your park.  Tell us what you what want your park experience to be like and what you want your park to look like.

• The concept of ‘paharakeke’ or ‘gardens of flax’ has been discussed and proposed, for at least 20 years within the community to associate community identity to historical cultural and natural connections with the land.

The use of flax and art in the landscape is one way the community wish to express pride in where they live and who they are. Flaxmere’s residents are varied and diverse and we invite you all to bring your visions and strands to weave together a future for us all.
