If you are trying to source extra funding to help toward providing a service to the community or a community project, then Hastings District Council invites you take advantage of its Community Grants funding round. The Council provides financial assistance for sports, the arts, community groups and projects that are providing services or activities of benefit to residents of the Hastings district. Priority will be given to applications from those groups which: |

- Show local initiative and participation
- Benefit a large cross-section of the community
- Show that the service or project contributes to the outcomes of Council's Long Term Council Community Plan (LTCCP)
- Show they have sought and are receiving funding from other sources and not relying solely on the Council to fund the project
- Have a sound base for their administration and on-going programme
Council grants

- The Major Capital Projects Fund is for capital projects in excess of $25,000 that will take place over the next 10 years, for which applicants will be seeking Council funding support.
- The Contract for Services fund is for an ongoing service to the community that is linked to Council’s Long Term Council Community Plan.
- The Grant of Service is where the Council receives requests to waive service charges for facilities or services. (i.e. facilities run by the Council such as the Hastings Sports Centre).
- The Marae Maintenance Funding is for projects within the Hastings district that maintain and enhance cultural well-being within the marae environment for the benefit of the community. This fund is under review and suspended until further notice.
- The Rural Halls Maintenance Fund is designed to assist with the building maintenance of halls in the rural and plains areas of the Hastings district. It does not cover ongoing operational costs or capital development.
External grants
The Creative
Communities scheme is aimed at increasing participation
in arts in the Hastings district and increase the range
and diversity of arts available to communities.

For more information about funding, two funding databases are available at the Hastings, Flaxmere and Havelock North libraries and at the Citizens Advice Bureau, 311 Lyndon Road, Hastings.
The Fundview database provides
information about funding for community groups in the Hastings
district and in New Zealand. The Breakout database provides
information on funding for individuals.
