: Expo draws Hastings crowds 
The organisers of the Hastings District Council’s ‘Shaping our District’ Expo are delighted with the public turnout for the event on Friday and Saturday.
More than 1000 people strolled around the Hastings Sports Centre over the two days of the Expo, the third such event the Council has held since 2003.
Organiser Lex Verhoeven said the attendance figures had gone up substantially each year, and was impressed at the jump from around 700 visitors in 2004 to nearly 1100 this year.
“As soon as you walked in the door you could see the variety of areas the Council operates in, from your water supply through to parking wardens, the Opera House and the team looking after our parks and public gardens.”
“Along with pushing all our formal consultation and letting people know what’s going on, it’s a great chance for the public to have an informal chat to officers, ask questions and give them feedback, so the Council also gets something back from holding these events."
