: Voters urged to have their say
Voters have just one more week to get their voting papers back to the Hastings District Council and have their say on the proposed sale of Nelson Park.
Nearly 40 percent of voting papers have now been returned, but Hastings Mayor Lawrence Yule is calling on the other 60 percent to have their say.
“It’s really vital that we have as many votes cast as possible. I know this issue may not excite some people one way or the other, but it’s a huge strategic decision for Hastings and the effects of either outcome will be felt for many years to come.”
Mr Yule encouraged undecided voters to consider the ‘big picture’ and read all the information available before casting their votes.
Voting closes at noon on November 9, and papers must be placed in ballot boxes by that time to be valid. Last-minute voters are urged to hand deliver their papers in the last couple of days to ensure they do not miss the deadline in the post.
