: Ocean Beach submissions close

30 March 2007
Hastings District Council has received 182 submissions to the draft Ocean Beach Structure Plan which proposes a suggested direction for the future of Ocean Beach.
The submission period closed at 4.30pm today (Friday, 30 March 2007).
Mark Clews, Hastings District Council’s Strategic Development Manager, said the number of submissions reflected the level of public interest in the future of Ocean Beach.
“This is a significant issue for our community. It is a complex subject with many elements and it’s very encouraging to see such a high number of people putting their thoughts into words. Public submissions are a very important part of the process,” said Mr Clews.
Fifty submitters have said they wish to speak to their submissions. Hearings will be held in early May.
Following that the Council will make any amendments to the direction and prepare a formal change to the District Plan. The plan change will be notified in July or August.
