Hastings District Council's Community Forum this month will provide an update of local strategies set up to stop family violence.

Speakers from LIVE HB (Local Initiative for Violence Elimination) and Ngati Kahungunu Violence Free Iwi Strategy will be addressing the forum on Wednesday 14 May, 12 – 1pm in the Council Chamber Foyer, 207 Lyndon Street East.

Organiser Mandy Kaye, a community development advisor at the Council, said the forum would also include an update of Project CARV (Curbing Alcohol Related Violence).

“Our forums give people a chance to come and hear a bit about what’s happening in the community and to ask questions of the presenters. There is also time for an open discussion after the presentations,” said Ms Kaye.

Council’s Community Development Team organises regular Community Forums to provide information on a range of topics and services. The forums are also an opportunity for people to network and share ideas.

Although the forums are aimed at those involved in, or working with, community organisations and the not-for-profit sector, all members of the public are welcome to attend.

Those wishing to attend the forum should RSVP by Friday 9 May to either Mandy Kaye (mandyk@hdc.govt.nz) or John Bailey (johnb@hdc.govt.nz) or 878 0500.
