
Hastings District Council Chief Executive Ross McLeod has announced the fifth and final appointment to Council’s senior management team.
Tanya Winter has been appointed as Group Manager: Community Facilities and Programmes.
The five newly created leadership positions are part of a broader improvement programme which will see Council embark on a host of service improvement projects. These projects aim to improve service to Hastings residents and its capability to deliver a bold new strategic direction.
Tanya is currently Community Services Group Manager at Waitaki District Council, in Oamaru, where she oversees libraries, a museum, an art gallery, aquatic centre, opera house, community development and grants, community safety, iwi liaison, culture and heritage, recreation and emergency services.
Tanya has worked within the public sector for over fifteen years and holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Physical Education.
“I am confident Tanya will be a valuable member of the Executive Leadership Team and make a significant contribution to our organisation and our community,” Ross says.
“In her new role Tanya will be responsible for our three libraries, Hastings City Art Gallery, Splash Planet, Top Ten Holiday Park, Hastings Sports Centre, the cemetery and crematorium, Camberley Community Centre, Housing for the Elderly and Community Assistance. She will also be managing relationships and performance with trusts and external facility managers.
Tanya will join the rest of the new team when she starts on Monday, October 12.
The other members of the Executive Leadership Team are Group Manager: Asset Management - David Fraser, Group Manager: Planning and Regulatory Services - John O'Shaughnessy, Group Manager: Strategy and Development - Dennis Morgan, Group Manager: Corporate and Customer Services - Mike Maguire, Chief Financial Officer - Tony Gray and Group Manager: Human Resources - Anne Rocard.
