Hastings District Council Hears Submissions to Draft Ten Year Plan

Tuesday 02 June 2009

Hastings District Council started hearing oral submissions to its Draft Ten Year Plan today.

Written submissions to the plan closed three weeks ago and council is currently considering those submissions for the formulation of the final plan.

The final plan is due to be adopted on 25 June 2009.

Councillors will hear around 75 oral submissions from individuals, organisations and businesses this week.

Council received 145 formal submissions, including a 1,598 signature petition opposing the closure of the Blackbridge Transfer Station.

The Council has also received 474 responses to the tear-off questionnaire which was distributed to households as part of the Ten Year Plan Summary Newsletter.

A broad range of topics has been canvassed within the submissions, says Hastings District Council Strategy Manager Lex Verhoeven.
