Hastings will welcome 26 new New Zealanders at a citizenship ceremony to be held tomorrow (Wednesday 7 July), from 6pm in the Hastings District Council Chamber, Lyndon Road, Hastings.
The candidates’ nationalities are as follows:

Samoan 6
Zambian 6

South African 1
German 1
Kaumatua, Mr Paora Crawford will welcome those present on behalf of tangata whenua, with entertainment provided by the Parearau kapa haka group.
Deputy Mayor Cynthia Bowers will present each candidate with a kowhai tree grown at the Hastings District Council’s nursery, to symbolise “putting down roots”.
