Residents of Hikanui Drive and surrounding areas are advised that Hastings District Council is temporarily chlorinating the water supply in the Tauroa water zone (see map) due to traces of bacteria detected during testing.

All bacteria has been suppressed and there is no health risk. Chlorination will temporarily remain in place over the next week or so as the installation of new backflow devices are being installed.

Chlorine levels are well within national guidelines and the water is safe to drink - boiling the water and placing it in the fridge once it has cooled will help remove the chlorine taste.
