The Hastings District Council Civil Defence coastal areas emergency alert system will be tested this Sunday, in conjunction with the national change away from daylight saving.
Seven vehicles with the new Stinger alert system attached, will travel around the Whirinaki, Clive, Haumoana, Te Awanga and Clifton townships and the residential areas of Whakatu and Waimarama to check that the emergency message can be clearly heard.
Hastings District Council gives notice that it has made its decisions on Part 1 of the submissions to the following proposal to change the District Plan. Part 2 of the submissions to the plan change will be heard on 27th April 2012.
In accordance with the requirements of Clause 10(3) of Schedule 1 of the Resource Management Act 1991, notice is given that proposed Plan Change 53 is deemed to have been amended in accordance with the decisions on submissions from the date of this notice.
A transformation of Flaxmere Park will bring enormous benefits to the community. As part of a major redevelopment of the park, new fitness equipment is to be installed, similar to that which is proving extremely popular in Queens Square.
Health Hawke’s Bay – Te Oranga Hawke’s Bay has been working with Hastings District Council on this joint initiative. Health Hawke’s Bay health promotion coordinator Sue Taaffe says “The aim is to give locals added opportunities to keep fit and have fun using the free, gym–style exercise equipment.”

An idea generation competition has inspired designs that would bring a new and exciting look to a potential upgrade of Civic Square in Hastings.
The competition resulted in 159 registrations of interest from design professionals around the world as Hastings District Council searched for innovative ideas for the redevelopment of Civic Square. This resulted in 32 formal submissions being received.
After several years of community planting days and site restoration we’re ready to open this new reserve to the public.

SH50 off Omahu Road
Hastings residents are being encouraged to get to know their neighbours.
Neighbours Day Aotearoa is being celebrated around the country on March 24th and 25th and Hastings District Council is encouraging residents to take the first step by saying “hello” to the people who live in their street.
