Hastings District Council is preparing an Aquatic Facilities Strategy to plan for the future provision of public swimming pools in the District. Council is looking for your feedback through a questionnaire and series of public workshops.
The questionnaires can be filled out on-line or by picking up a hard copy from any of the public swimming pools, Council’s libraries and the main Council building (207 Lyndon Road East, Hastings).
Hastings Emergency Management Operations centre is no longer on alert but is keeping a close eye on sea conditions leading up to the high tide at 1.20am tomorrow morning.
Residents of 21 houses at Haumoana and other houses at Ocean Beach have been told the risk has reduced enough for them to return home.
Police are currently evacuating 21 houses along the coast at Haumoana that may be vulnerable to high swells.
Hastings District Council has been monitoring high swells along the coast over the weekend but has now activated its Emergency Management Operations as the swells build.People along the wider coastline should self-evacuate if they think their houses are going to be affected by the swell.
Residents of Hikanui Drive and surrounding areas are advised that Hastings District Council is temporarily chlorinating the water supply in the Tauroa water zone (see map) due to traces of bacteria detected during testing.
All bacteria has been suppressed and there is no health risk. Chlorination will temporarily remain in place over the next week or so as the installation of new backflow devices are being installed.
