Omarunui Landfill
The Hastings District and Napier City councils operate the Omarunui Landfill, situated at Omarunui Rd.
The landfill is only open to commercial operators/contractors with a Waste Disposal Licence - it's not open to the public. Members of the public should take their waste to one of the local Refuse Transfer Stations.
Landfill hours are Monday to Friday 8am - 4.30pm, Saturday 8am - 2.30pm. Last entry time will be 4.00 pm weekdays and 2.00 pm Saturdays. Users of the Landfill must allow enough time to ensure they vacate the site before closing time (unless by prior arrangement).
Most of the waste that comes to the landfill is from the Napier city and Hastings district refuse transfer stations.
Environmental Policy
Omarunui Landfill is committed to providing an environmentally responsible waste disposal site for Napier City and Hastings District which safely contains all waste on-site, complies with legal requirements and seeks to continually improve environmental performance.
