Hastings district's great outdoors

Explore the Mohi Bush track, discover the Maraetotara Stream and waterfall, take in the scenery at the top of Cape Kidnappers or spend the day lapping up the sun at Ocean Beach.

The Hastings district is famous for its sunshine and outdoor living, and has many parks and gardens, walking tracks, heritage trails and seven beautiful beaches waiting to be explored.

A number of parks and gardens can be booked for special events and weddings - what better place to hold a special event than one of the sunniest spots in New Zealand?

Hastings Reserves Strategy

The Hastings Reserve Strategy 2006 sets out the Hastings District Council's plans for acquiring and developing parks and reserves over the next 20 years.

The strategy raises minimum levels of service from 4 hectares of reserve space per 1000 people, to 10 hectares per 1000 people. The process of developing the strategy involved thorough consultation.
