Control : Have you found a dog?
Any person can seize a dog in a public place. If you have found and captured a dog, contact the Animal Control section at the Council on 06 878 0500 and they will advise you what to do. Alternatively you can take it to the Pound in Stevens Place, Hastings. Pound opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 10am and 3.30pm to 4.30pm, Saturday 9am to 10am. |

It is not advisable to capture a dog you believe may be aggressive. However, it is recommended that dogs be restrained, for example - lock the dog in a shed, or behind a gate, then contact the Animal Control section on 06 878 0500 for assistance.
