Have You Lost Your Dog?
If your dog is wearing its registration tag and is found by an Animal Control Officer from the Council, it can easily be identified and speeds up its return to you.It is strongly recommended that owners of lost dogs take responsibility for checking for them at the pound. This is due to the fact that many dogs are cross breeds, dog descriptions can differ and no dog can be accurately identified over the telephone.
The Hastings Animal Control Centre is situated in Stevens Place. If the dog is wearing its collar/tag the owner can be contacted early. It is important to keep your telephone details up-to-date, and that dog owners notify the Council of any change in contact details, so that we can reach you if your dog comes into the Animal Control Centre.
Also ring the Royal New Zealand SPCA in Hastings on 06 8788733. Your dog may have been injured and someone may have taken it to them.
If your dog is not collected within 7 days of being impounded, Council may rehome your dog, or if it is not wanted it may be euthanised.
Pound Public Hours
The Animal Control Centre, which is located in Stevens Place, Flaxmere, is open Monday to Friday 9am to 10am and 3.30pm to 4.30pm. And on Saturday 9am to 10am.Pound Fees
