: Your rates notice

The following diagram will help you interpret your rates notice. Clicking on the letters from A to M will link you to the descriptions below.
This is the physical address of your property, which is referred to as a rating unit.
If there are any changes to your postal address please fill out your rate payment advice slip and send it back to Hastings District Council.
This is a tax invoice for the rates instalment as shown.
This is your property's number on the rating information database. Please quote it when making enquires about your rates.
This is your property's number on the district valuation roll.
This is based on your property's land value and is used to work out the general rate.
This is the description of the legal on your property as it appears in the district valuation roll.
Outlines the different rate charges applied to your property and how they are calculated.
The different types of rates the Council charges and the category of land to which the property belongs for the purpose of setting rates differentials (the different rates applied to different types of land, eg residential or non-residential) or for setting certain targeted rates.

Your rates have been worked out using both the annual value of your property and the number of separate part ot has, eg whether you have a single dwelling or a block of flats. The amount refers to your property's annual value of the number of separate part of the property being charged. Note - the annual value of a property may be split where different parts of subject to a different category, eg part residential, part non-residential.
This shows either the amount in the dollar applied to an annual value or the amount of a charge for each separate part of a property.
