Representation decision for 2013 elections
New ward boundaries
Following the Local Government Commission's decision on Wednesday 10 April 2013, the representation arrangements for the 2013 Hastings District Council elections have now changed.
Hastings District Council will have a mayor and 14 councillors. The councillors will be elected on a ward basis as follows:
- Mohaka Ward - 1 councillor
- Kahuranaki Ward - 1 councillor
- Heretaunga Ward - 2 councillors
- Flaxmere Ward - 2 councillors
- Hastings-Havelock North Ward - 8 councillors
- The boundaries of Mohaka Ward, Kahuranaki Ward and Flaxmere Ward are unchanged from the last elections in 2010
- Hastings and Havelock North have been combined into one ward. The boundaries of the Havelock North portion are unchanged. The Hastings portion has been slightly enlarged to take in the Lyndhurst area, land south of Percival and Evenden Road, and land south of Richmond Road
- Heretaunga Ward is changed only by the removal of those areas that have gone to Hastings Ward

Hastings District Rural Community Board
The Board remains in place with four subdivisions electing one member each:
- Tutira Subdivision
- Kaweka Subdivision
- Maraekakaho Subdivision
- Poukawa Subdivision
