The mapping of services in Flaxmere is an attempt to capture those services and providers that are providing direct contacts within the community at June 2010.
Flax—The Paharakeke Project is about recognising an asset and symbol of Flaxmere and promoting beautiful flax landscapes and significant artworks that will promote positive community identity.
It is envisioned that Flaxmere progress to a unique, iconic destination and location for inspired art and unique cultural journey, which showcases exemplars of harakeke/flax as a living landscape.
As the Flaxmere community has changed and grown over time so too has the need for the town centre to adapt. The Hastings District Council has recognised this need and initiated the Urban Design Framework to help guide future council decisions on urban form, land use and community projects in and around the town centre.

The Review of the Flaxmere Community Plan is now in its draft form and a revised community action plan is being shared with the community to confirm that the actions reflect their needs, goals and aspirations.
