About the Landmarks History Group
Landmarks Trust is Hastings District Council's philosophy of creating civic pride and community identity through quality in architecture, landscape, art in public places and history.
Former Hastings Mayor, the late Jeremy Dwyer, was inspired by the Historic Landmarks Commission in Santa Barbara during a 1996 study trip to America. Upon his return, Jeremy set up Hastings Landmarks Trust based on the model he had seen in Santa Barbara.
During a history forum held in March 2008, it was decided to establish an history informal group as part of Landmarks Trust.
Starting in May 2008, monthly meetings with an invited guest speaker (except for December, January and February), are held on the second Tuesday of each month at the Hastings War Memorial Library.
