Hastings has 58 schools including some of the highest achieving in New Zealand.
Highly regarded integrated schools for girls in years 7-13 are Iona College and Woodford House. For the boys, Hereworth School (private) specialises primary and intermediate education, and Lindisfarne College (integrated) caters for boys in years 7-13. These Hastings schools offer the choice of day student or boarding. Hastings also has an excellent range of public schools and pre-school learning centres. It is safe and easy to get to school each day with students walking, cycling, or taking a short bus ride.
