Council manages a range of grants available to community groups and, in some cases, individuals, all with specific criteria designed to enhance the lives of residents through events, programmes, services, and facility improvements. All of the grants are contestable so the success of your application will depend on how well your project fits with the criteria, the priority of the type of project compared with the others, and the grants money available for allocation.

All of the grants are contestable so the success of your application will depend on how well your project fits with the criteria, the priority of the type of project compared with the others, and the grants money available for allocation. All applications are now submitted and managed via our online Grants Portal
Successful recipients of council grants or funding will receive a Funding Agreement or a Contract for Service. Upon completion of the project the applicant will need to account for how they have spent funds and share what they have achieved and learnt. Accountability and acquittal reports are also submitted and managed by logging onto your account via our online Grants Portal.
Creative Communities grants are available for arts projects. The funds are supplied by Creative New Zealand, with the application and assessment process managed in each area by the local council. Applicants to this fund must show how their project fits with criteria set by the Creative Communities Scheme and Hastings District Council.
The Waste Minimisation Fund supports development of innovative solutions for reducing waste, this involves providing financial assistance to local waste minimisation and management initiatives that contribute to achieving the goals outlined in Hastings District Council’s Waste Minimisation and Management Plan 2018.
For larger projects it’s unlikely Council will provide the total amount of funding required so groups may need to show how they can attract funding from other agencies and charities outside of Council.
