Tainui, Tanner, Tauroa and Hikanui Reserves

Image of Hikanui Reserve.

These reserves are all located close together in the hills of Havelock North.

They are noted for their scenic tracks through forested valleys. Combined, they cover a total area of 23.791ha, with Tainui the largest at 16.4ha.

All four are permitted off-lead areas for dogs and are popular for walking, biking and running. They are all considered natural open space reserves and therefore maintenance is limited other than maintaining paths, weeding and tree management.

Seating: Yes, in Tainui Reserve and the Tauroa car park.

Public toilets: No

The entrances to the reserves are off Hikanui Dr, Tauroa Rd, Tainui Dr and Tanner St.

Maintenance and development programmes for these reserves are governed by the Tainui, Tauroa, Tanner and Hikanui Reserves Management Plan.
