St Leonards Park playground

The upgraded St Leonards Park playground was officially opened on Saturday 14 October 2023.

This upgrade has been in the planning for some time and is the last of the three Raureka Parks to be upgraded as part of Council's adopted Raureka Parks Reserve Management Plan.

This upgrade has been in the planning for some time and is the last of the three Raureka Parks to be upgraded as part of Council's adopted Raureka Parks Reserve Management Plan.

In developing the plan, the community identified the need to encourage visitors to stay longer and to provide safe access from busy Southampton St.  The upgraded park now features a dual toilet, off-street carparking and an upgraded playground, which has been designed to complement the playcentre’s new facility that will be built here.

The playground theme reflects our district’s agriculture sector and recognises the nearby Stortford Lodge saleyards, which have been in operation for 120 years.  It features a custom stock truck, farm scene and cow rocker as well as swings, a carousel and climbing tower.

The fully fenced playground, shade sails and picnic tables will ensure this is a space for whanau to come and play safely, and somewhere our whole community to enjoy.
