The move of the traffic onto the completed part of the new SH2 roundabout went well this week.
The plan is to have one lane operational right around the roundabout by the end of next week – weather permitting.
We had expected that by working over the weekend the lane would have been completed by the end of this week, however we lost four days to heavy rain. As soon as one roundabout lane is fully functioning Napier Rd can be re-opened.
Getting the roundabout fully complete will take until the end of July.
Heading west from the roundabout, the removal of topsoil along the route continues with engineered fill replacing it.
Towards the Pakowhai Rd end, the bridge team is on site. Piling for the bridge over the Karamu Stream will continue for about another two weeks, after which pile caps will be fitted. The bridge beams will start to be installed in about four to six weeks’ time
