Work on the Whakatu Arterial Link road connecting State Highway 2 (SH2) with Pakowhai Road is going to plan.
The project manager advises us that over the next two weeks work on the layout of the new roundabout and the roads leading out from it will continue.
The temporary roundabout that has been put in place is working well; drivers seem to have adapted to the new layout without a problem.
Unison is continuing to underground power cables in Napier Rd and SH2.
A section of Napier Rd remains closed to all but residents and vehicles that need to access those addresses. This will be in place for about five months. Drivers are being advised to allow an extra two minutes when travelling through the construction site. SH2 will remain open to all traffic, at all times.
Residents in Station Rd in Whakatu will have noticed an increase in truck traffic carrying clean fill between Pakowhai and the SH2 site. Council asks that drivers entering or exiting driveways on the affected roads take extra care to check for trucks before turning.
