Hastings arts funding assessors wanted

Whanau Day med

Are you involved in the arts in Hastings?  Do you have time to be a part of an assessment group of passionate arts advocates to distribute funds to local artists, creatives and organisations delivering exciting arts and cultural opportunities for our community?

The Creative Communities Scheme (CCS) is a Creative NZ fund, topped up and distributed by Hastings District Council to create opportunities for local communities to engage with, and participate in local arts activities.

The assessment committee allocates CCS funding for the Hastings district. The committee is made up of councillors and community representatives who are familiar with the broad range of local arts and cultural activities.

Representatives currently required to join the committee of assessors are Nga Toi Māori and Youth (18 – 24).  Assessors who are community representatives are expected to sit on the committee for a minimum of one term (three years) and a maximum of two terms (six years).

There are two rounds a year, in March and August where committee members assess all applications assigned to them and read the others.

Assessors are expected to attend an assessment meeting twice a year.  There is a minimal fee paid per application and a fee for attending the meetings. They also mark the applications based on a detailed criteria, in line with the Toi Tu Framework - a regional strategic framework to support creatives and creativity in Hawke’s Bay.

Nominations for assessors close midday Friday, July 19, 2024.

New committee members will be notified by Friday, July 26 and expected to be available for assessment induction and assessing from August 22, 2024.
