Image of Keirungs Gardens.

This large park in Havelock North has 17 hectares of formal gardens, woodlands and open grass areas.

Off the Tanner Street entrance there is a grassed picnic area with tables, with access to the main area of the park through ‘Crab Apple Walk’. Running along the western side of the gardens, following the waterway, is Arthur’s Path, an informal walkway through oak trees.

There is a playground off the Puflett Rd entrance. Playground equipment includes swings, climbing frames and confidence course.

The park is home to Keirunga Homestead, Keirunga Gardens Arts and Crafts Society and the Keirunga Park Railway which runs an 846 metre mini train track that winds its way around the park through tunnels and across bridges.

The grounds are permanently open to the public however the car park is closed at night. Dogs are welcome but must be on a lead unless within the designated ‘off-lead exercise’ area at the southern boundary walkway of Keirunga Gardens, off Tanner Street.

Seating: Yes

Public toilets: Yes; closed at night

The entrances to the park are off Puflett Rd and Tanner St.

Maintenance and development programmes for this park are governed by the Keirunga Gardens Reserve Management Plan.
