Te Mata Peak

Te Mata Peak is a local heritage site and cultural landmark, and is one of the most visited places in Hawke’s Bay.

Standing at 399 metres, Te Mata Peak sits within a 99 hectare park in Havelock North. It is a favourite place for a wide range of recreational activities, from walking and mountain biking to and picnics and events. There are picnic tables in the park, placed to make the most of stunning views of the district.

Public toilets: Yes, at the main Te Mata Park entrance and at the Tauroa Rd entrance

The entrances to the reserve are off Te Mata Peak Rd and Tauroa Rd; (the peak gates are closed overnight from 10pm).
