Mahi for Youth is a wrap-around support service for Hastings youth aged between 16 - 24 years who are looking for a pathway to education or employment.
Our friendly youth connectors are always available to chat and provide support; from preparing a CV and filling in a job application to interview preparation and gaining a driver’s license. They are here to work with you to create a sustainable pathway to employment.
Our Employer Connectors create opportunities for employment by building strong relationships with potential employees, as well as local employers in a range of industries. They provide information for young people on job opportunities and provide pastoral care throughout the employment process.
The team also consists of a Whānau Connector who provides holistic support to our young people and their whānau, as well as a Hinengaro Connector who provides mental health support to rangatahi on their journey to education or employment, such as access to counselling and other social services.
We also work with other agencies and organisations that support young people – if we don’t provide a specific service, we can put you in touch with someone who does.
If you are looking for support in entering the workforce or further education, the Mahi for Youth team would love to hear from you.
You don’t need an appointment, just come in and see us at the Mahi for Youth space in the CBD Mall, Heretaunga Street West, Hastings (next to Cotton On) or at the Flaxmere Community Centre.
We are open in Hastings, Monday – Friday from 10.30am - 3.30pm and in Flaxmere, Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm.
Call 0800 4 YOUTH to find out more or fill in the online form below and we'll get in touch with you.
