Chorus has advised that the Ultra Fast Broadband (UBF2+) rollout commences in Waimarama at the start of the new year, which will enable the local residents to connect to the same high speed internet services as their urban neighbours.
To enable this to happen, Chorus needs to bridge the gap currently separating Waimarama from Havelock North.
Work commenced October 23 with Chorus subcontractors doing initial setup to lay 7500m of ducting along the side of Waimarama Rd, starting from Maraetotara Rd and ending just past Waipuka Rd.
Machinery will be off the road but Chorus appreciate the Public slowing as they pass.
A few very short delays are anticipated, 5-10min, while there are setups in certain locations, these locations will have extra traffic management in place.
Work will shut down over the Christmas break, recommencing January 7 with an expected completion end of February.
It’s appreciated that this is a very busy period of the year for the holidaymakers at Waimarama and Chorus will ensure their contractors keep any disruptions to a minimum.
