Changes to building consent applications

Hastings District Council is making changes to improve the way it communicates with building consent applicants and owners. The changes will improve process efficiency and better inform owners, who have requested to be better informed on the progress of their application.

  • Applications to Amend a Building Consent will only be accepted via the Councils online application website. Applications can be made by visiting the forms page.
  • All correspondence, including requests for further information, will be emailed to the owner as well as the applicant.

ALL CORRESPONDENCE WILL ALSO BE EMAILED OUT TO THE OWNER:
•    If the building consent application is returned following the Plansmart (vetting) checking process, the owner will also receive a copy of the ‘Plansmart Request for Information’ letter that is emailed to the applicant.
•    When the building consent application is accepted by council for processing, the owner will also receive a copy of the lodgement confirmation email.
•    If the building consent applicant is issued a ‘Request for Further Information’ letter, the full letter containing all further information requested will also be emailed to the owner.

AMENDMENT APPLICATIONS WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED VIA THE ONLINE PORTAL:
•    Paper applications will be phased out on the 15 July 2019. After this date, all building consent amendment applications must be lodged via the Council's online application website.
