The Village Green is home to Run Walk Hawke’s Bay’s Hastings members, one of the groups who still used the old Havelock North Cricket Pavilion when it was in its old spot to the north of the park.
They are looking forward to again being able to use the pavilion in its new home once the Havelock North Village Green redevelopment is complete, and to help things along have donated $5000.
Run Walk Hawke’s Bay’s Hastings members Bruce Arnold, Bernie Bowden, and Ben Wright were at the park on Thursday to present their donation to Council.
“It’s not only that it’s our ‘home’ but the green is a wonderful community asset. We encourage other groups and individuals to help us get the last of the fundraising together so we can make it the best it can be,” said Mr Bowden.
The club has about 150 members across Hastings and Napier and raises most of its funds through the running of its annual Hastings Half Marathon; an event that has been on the calendar for 36 years.
“We’re extremely pleased that our membership was happy to put money towards what is an exceptional project.”
