Weather-affected roads

The New Zealand Transport Authority re-opened State Highway 5 (Napier-Taupo Rd) today at 2.30pm.

Local roads in Hastings, Central Hawke’s Bay and Wairoa, as well as some state highways, continue to be affected by snow and rain.

Hastings roads update:

Road closures:

TAIHAPE Rd is closed to all but residents from the Kaweka Forestry headquarters to the Rangitikei end.

PUKETITIRI Rd is closed from the Hawkston Road Intersection to all but residents. POHOKURA Rd is closed from Lake Opouahe (Tutira end) to Waitara Rd.

MANGATAHI Rd; the Low Level Bridge is closed.

Other road issues:

WAIMARAMA Rd– various locations – minor slips, surface flooding. MIDDLE Rd – tree across road.

RAUKAWA Rd – Bridge Pa township area – surface flooding – water is now subsiding.

MARAETOTARA Rd – slips and surface flooding. PUKETITIRI Rd – surface flooding. KERERU Rd – minor slip in gorge.
