The end is in sight for the underground services, footpath and road upgrade along Karamu Road.
The work has taken longer than expected because of wet weather and decisions to add the replacement of a water pipe in Ellison Rd and a section of shallow pipe in Karamu Rd to the project.
The underground services work will be completed by the end of next week after which the replacement of the road surface will be started. That would take about three weeks, with the final seal timed to be laid on September 1, weather dependent.
Access to all businesses along the route is being maintained and business operators kept up to date with progress. Signs signalling access to specific businesses have been put up. A traffic manager is also on site full time, to assist pedestrians, cyclists and drivers on the best way to get to their destination.
Ellison Rd, which has also been upgraded as part of the project, is expected to be sealed next week if the weather allows.
