Fire Restrictions

Fires are dangerous, particularly during Hawke's Bay's long hot summers. The rules on the lighting and management of fire are set and managed by Fire Emergency New Zealand. On this page you will find the links to that organisation as well Hawke's Bay-specific rules on fires in public places and smoke nuisance.

Current fire status

All matters related to fire safety are managed by Fire Emergency New Zealand. To check the current fire status in Hastings or to arrange a fire permit visit the FENZ website.

Please note: you have to go through the "Check & Apply Now" option on the FENZ website to see the status for your location.
