Council provides a number of options for those not on the kerbside collection route. On this page you can find out where the transfer stations and the recycling drop-off facilities are, what you can take to them, and when they are open.
In response to the national COVID-19 alert level the recycling centres are CLOSED to the public until further notice. The Henderson Road and Black Bridge transfer stations are closed to the public but open to existing account holders. Rural residents can still drop their orange bags off at the transfer stations (Black Bridge ONLY Saturday 10am - 2pm). If you miss your weekly kerbside recycling collection or live outside of the collection area, there are a number of ways to get rid of your easily recyclable items.

The cost (see fees and charges at the bottom of this page) of getting rid of green waste at a transfer station is cheaper than general rubbish, so it makes sense to keep it separate. Keeping it separate allows Council to ensure it goes to a commercial composting company – which means it does not go into the landfill.
