Festival for the Future

youth council

Festival for the Future is New Zealand's biggest leadership and innovation summit, and this year the Hastings Youth Council was lucky enough to be able to have about 12 youth councillors attend.

Over the course of the two days there were panels and workshops exploring business, community, and government sectors.

The experience as a whole was wonderful but the connections we made were the most significant part.

When we attended last year our take-away was: ‘In order to lead others you must lead yourself’, but this year our collective take away was about connections.

We made so many valuable connections with like-minded rangatahi across Aotearoa - connections that have enabled us to understand the different perspectives of youth across the country.

We have learnt so much over the course of the two days and are excited to put our learnings into action for our own community.
