Sir James Wattie Place remains closed

James Watties Place

Due to the ongoing potential asbestos exposure risk, Sir James Wattie Place will remain closed to the public until after the Christmas/New Year period.

Hastings District Council closed Sir James Wattie Place to traffic and pedestrians following the Kiwi Rail railway station fire in September.

Although the railway station itself has now been removed, clean-up work is still being carried out in the surrounding area and the area remains closed to ensure public safety.

Due to its technical, specialised nature this work will not be able to be completed to meet certified standards before the end of January next year.
