Shop windows come alive for Parade

Artist Dali Susanto has already made a start on the window of the Hastings Community Arts Centre

Ahead of the Blossom Festival people can get into the spirit of the event by taking part in a fun competition to “find the flower” while they are out and about in the city.

Hawke’s Bay artist Dali Susanto is set to get busy this month painting a number of the windows of shops and businesses from the 200 Heretaunga East Street block to 300 Heretaunga West Street.
People may be familiar with his works that have appeared in galleries in Hastings and Napier - bold paintings and designs, usually using acrylics and often resembling prints.

More recently he has begun painting on other media aside from canvas, including leather and walls of buildings, and now the community will be able to see his creativity unleashed on glass on the main street.

He says the aim is to spread “happiness” with his flower power designs, ten of which will contain a different coloured “petal” clue for the competition.

Find all ten petals that make up a flower and let Arts Inc Heretaunga know where they are to go in the draw for three prizes - $500, $300 and $200 to be spent in a Hastings CBD store of their choice

Forms to enter the competition can either be collected from the Hastings Community Arts Centre, the Hastings i-Site, or downloaded from the Arts Inc Heretaunga website or facebook page.

The forms need to be dropped off to the I-Site by September 30, and the draw will be made at the prizegiving for the Hastings Blossom Parade at 12.45pm at Civic Square.  Winners need to be present.
