Cheques not accepted from 31 May 2021

With New Zealand banks phasing out the use of cheques this year, the Hastings District Council will no longer be accepting cheques as payment from 31 May 2021.

We understand this change will affect some of our customers more than others. We will ensure the elimination of cheques as payment options doesn’t impact on your ability to do business with us.

From 31 May 2021, we encourage you to use other modes of payments, such as:

• Direct Debit (EASYPAY) - A system that means your rates payments will automatically be deducted from your bank account. Payment can be made weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly or annually and ensures that your rates accounts are paid on time and for the correct amount
  You can set this up by filling out an online form.

• Pay Online – You can make selected payments online using a Visa or MasterCard.
  
  
• Internet Banking – You can make payments to the Hastings District Council’s Westpac Bank Account 03 0642 0281000 00. To ensure your payment is allocated to the correct account, please reference the correct details as per below:
  
  Rates Payments
  Particulars: Rates
  Code: Customer name
  Reference: Property number e.g. 12345
  
  Other Payments
  Particulars: Customer name
  Code: Type of payment i.e. Debtor, Building, Parking, Dog, Water etc
  Reference: Debtor, consent, dog or infringement number
  
  
• Pay in Person – You can make payments by cash or EFTPOS (including Credit cards) at the Council office at 207 Lyndon Road East, Hastings or at any Postshop in New Zealand.
